eid ,Onam is a festival of elation and jubilance that all irrespective of caste and religion celebrate.
However, the celebrations should not be confined to purchasing new dress or partaking of a feast and other
such extravaganza. We should celebrate such festivals in a more meaningful way by distributing sweets and offering feasts in orphanages and old-age homes. Already the Government and several NGOs are doing this.
Such gestures should start at home. We can give donations, notebooks, sweets and dress to poor
children of our locality. These little deeds of benevolence will make a difference to the BPL (below poverty line) families of society. Otherwise, the spending spree of yours during each festival is highly deplorable and insalubrious.
Traders, on their part, make good of the season by charging exorbitant prices and making quick profits. Many of them also indulge in hoarding during the festival season. So, we should celebrate each festival with thoughtfulness, modesty, benevolenceand magnanimity.
